sentacle

A game of building sentences, one word at a time.

Build real sentences from letter tiles. Cross a word already on the board. Rarer words score more.

Full rules
  • Players each get 7 letter tiles they use to write sentences
  • Each sentence after the first must share a word with an existing sentence on the board
  • On a turn, a player can play, swap, or skip
  • Each tile becomes a word that starts with that letter (“the” or “theatre” for a T tile)
  • Each sentence must be complete, grammatically correct, and contain at least one verb
  • Statements only — questions don’t fly here
  • Every word must be a real dictionary word — no names, places, or other proper nouns; everything is lowercase here
  • Possessives are welcome (dog’s, players’) — but no contractions; spell them out (cannot, do not)
  • Players score points by:
    • The value on each tile played (T = 1 … X = 8)
    • Multipliers for word rarity (2× uncommon, 3× rare)
    • The word you reuse from the board pays its value too
    • Complex sentences using connecting words (because, although, …)
    • Playing all 7 tiles in one turn — a bingo (2× word points)
  • Game end:
    • The game ends when all 100 tiles have been used
    • The point value of unused tiles is subtracted from each player’s score
    • Highest total after subtraction wins
