Terms of Service

Effective August 25, 2026

Sentacle is operated by Granite Spire Holdings LLC.

These are the terms for using Sentacle. By playing, you agree to them. We have tried to keep them short enough to actually read.

The game is provided as-is

Sentacle is offered free of charge, as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, that games will always be reachable, or that the grammar checks will agree with you.

They will sometimes not agree with you. Judging whether a sentence is well-formed and meaningful is a judgment call made partly by software, and it gets things wrong in both directions. A rejected sentence costs you nothing but a retry, and there is a report button beside every rejection. Please use it.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of Sentacle.

How to behave

By using Sentacle, you agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, demean, or abuse other players. The sentence box is a text field pointed at another human being; treat it that way.
  • Automate play, whether with bots, scripts, or any program that plays turns, drives the interface, or hammers our API on your behalf.
  • Attack the service: probing for vulnerabilities, circumventing rate limits, attempting to reach other players' seats or data, or overloading our infrastructure or the services we depend on.
  • Use the game to distribute unlawful content, or to impersonate someone else.

A game link is a secret that controls a seat. Do not use a link that was not given to you.

Content and enforcement

You keep whatever rights you have in the sentences you write. You give us permission to store them and show them to the other players in your game, and to anyone holding that game's spectate link, which is simply what it takes to run the game.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate access, with or without notice, when we believe someone is abusing the service or other players. We are a small operation and we are not going to pretend this is a court: we will use our judgment, and if you think we got it wrong, write to us.

Games can expire

Games do not wait forever. If a game sits untouched for 7 days, it ends by inactivity. The player whose turn it was forfeits and the waiting opponent wins. We send a warning email before that happens if reminders are on for that game. Any move resets the clock.

We may also end or delete games, and may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of Sentacle, at any time. Nothing here is a promise that a particular game or the service itself will exist indefinitely.

Accounts

Accounts are optional and free. You are responsible for the email address you sign in with and for the game links you hold. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for how.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. When we do, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the revised terms. This version is effective August 25, 2026.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If some part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
